If you subtract 20 from 2 what do you get ...........

Very VERY cold is the answer !! -18 C in the West last night meant frozen car door, frozen windscreen INSIDE and out, frozen roads, frozen footpath, and frozen lock on the radio station shutter !! But then (fifteen minutes, a litre of de-icer and a lot of key jiggling later)..... lovely heat, a comfortable seat and good chat. As one man said to me this morning, "There's only three things you need a this time of year Bryan, dry turf, dry hay and dry cash"

Here's the plan .........

Tonight, Friday is the Q101 Staff night out so the whole original team will be back together for a night of greed, self indulgence and "go on, we'll start the diet on Mondayness"  (I'm hungry talking about it)

Tomorrow, Saturday I'm doing an Outside broadcast in the centre of Omagh Co. Tyrone from 12Noon - 4pm for a day of fun including my own favourite - the Santa Dash (40 local businessmen and women dressed as Santas racing to the courthouse) A spectacle not to be missed - especially by the St Johns Ambulance team !!

Sunday from the West up to the North coast for a day of fresh air

This week ........

They say (whoever "they" are) that variety is the spice of life - well, this week has certainly provided me with plenty of variety !! Early week I was chatting with the boys from Bagatelle in the studio about their new album and a new group called Keltic storm, I had a great time and met some lovely people doing an outdoor broadcast in Ballymoney at the Joey Dunlop Leisure centre, I covered Drivetime in the brand new Q102 studio (while Damien Devenny and Peter Barnett unplugged things, turned things up and down, then took out the processor and left !!Nice!), and Saturday I am on stage in Strabane from 2pm to 6pm hosting the switching on of the Christmas lights "4........3....(please work please work) ....2 ........1 Tadaaaaah !!!

This won't hurt a bit

The phrase 'poisoned chalice' always pops into my mind when I think of days like today. Yes it's the wrong use of the phrase, but a day off - that you have to go to the DENTIST is for me a poisoned chalice !
Many thanks to Paul McCafferty for covering the breakfast show today while I "sit back and relax ....this won't hurt a bit"

I miss the days when tooth trouble meant that soon, someone would give you a pound !

'Uncover our stories with just one click'

If you get a minute, have a quick look at my short films on the beautiful county of Fermanagh for Discover Northern Ireland - launched last week............ Looking at the sunny weather it all seems a long time ago!   I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, meeting lots of interesting people and working with a terrific crew from a Dublin based production company.
